What To Order @ TAMARIND, NYC

In NYC, there are ample options for Indian food.  The culture’s addictive spices, standout flavors, and unique dishes make for a nice alternative from traditional American fare for lunch, dinner pasta options, or cheap and easy Asian takeout.  But one celebrity favorite known for bringing down the house in Indian dining in NYC while accommodating the comforting tastes of India’s sumptuous meals is TAMARIND.

Located in the trendy Tribeca district at 99 Hudson Street and only a few doors down from other major spots including Mr. Chow and Nobu, Tamarind is an “adults only” restaurant, and also has a midtown locale at 41 East 22nd Street, offering an aesthetic of sheer opulence in food, authenticity, decor, service, presentations, taste and even in the bathrooms!

Packed with loaded Europeans, Wall Street movers and shakers, and models with their agents, Tamarind offers the best of NYC for Indian fine dining!  It’s pricey but delicious, and certainly a New York must!

Check out a few of my favorites next time you’re trying to decide #WhatToOrder at Tamarind!

The LOBSTER MASALA at Tamarind costs $36, but is a genius take on this authentic Indian dish. Although I found the lobster to be a bit overcooked, it was a mouthwatering feast of a traditional medley of mushrooms, chopped onions, and garlic in a white wine and tomato sauce.

Tamarind's CHIMBORI JALWA appetizer is a genius and delicious creation of fresh and spicy Crab meat lumped in a cold cake mixed of madras curry powder, ginger, garlic, green chilies and scallions! At $15 this is not an appetizer for the faint - as the chili kick makes for a powerful punch, but it's a great, light and healthy start for any meal at this spectacular restaurant!
