What Happened to ORGANIC AVENUE??? Popular NYC Juice Chain Closes Its Doors!
It is with a heavy heart to report that my beloved ORGANIC AVENUE is no more. It was just moments ago I learned the devastating news as I headed to their Park Avenue South location (which just opened earlier this year) to pick up my beet juice lunch only to find the sign below taped to the door!
Yes, Organic Avenue has filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and all ten Manhattan locations have closed.
More than your average juice bar, Organic Avenue was one of the first to get on the health craze that’s sweeping the nation. Known for their healthy lunch and dining alternatives to countless New Yorkers, the juice company has been a city staple to local health nuts for fifteen years, as a major source for juice cleansing, low-cal soups and sandwiches, shakes, and vegetable options!
Employees were told last week, the day before closing, that the chain was being shut down, and it’s seemingly official.
I was not the only one to stumble upon the location in shock and disbelief! While taking the photo above, about five other customers disappointingly tried to enter and also read the sign.
But competition for juice in New York is heavy. There are tons of other options that have sprung up, that probably hit Organic Avenue hard.
So instead of feeling rejected, I headed across the street to Juice Generation.
