Burrata, Fish, Pasta & Filet Mignon @ VALBELLA, NYC
VALBELLA has to be one of the best restaurants I had never heard of in New York City! Located at 421 West 13th Street in the trendy meatpacking district, Valbella is steps away from the Standard Hotel, the Hotel Gansevoort, and some of the best clubs the city has to offer! Inside, the dark and elegant mood create sexy character for the two-level space that is intensified with vault ceilings, a spiral staircase, sleek metal, private rooms and beautiful vivacious patrons.
The service at Valbella is stupendous! Friendly and obliging servers created the salad above by gently and skillfully layering my plate with each ingredient to create one of the best starters I ever had! Not only was the food amazing, the presentation was engaging and the dramatic way it was delivered and built in front of me was worth ordering alone!
As with all top Italian restaurants, Valbella offers some of the best recipes of veal, steak, seafood, risotto, and chicken prepared in various forms. The seafood linguine is amazing! Fresh jumbo scallops blend triumphantly with lumps of fresh crab and lobster. The pasta is fresh, tender and delicious in a red sauce that is spicy and sweet in a subtle way.
The filetto manzo ripieno is one of the best entrees ever! It features pounded filet mignon stuffed with sausage, mushrooms and cheese while wrapped in a succulent puff pastry served over mashed potatoes with a Marsala wine reduction! I mean, look at the picture, do I have to say anymore?
I enjoyed Valbella! It’s pricey, it’s all the way downtown, but the restaurant’s unexpected delights in food, decor and service make any gripe worth bearing! It’s one of my new downtown favorites and I can’t wait to go back to try more of their fascinating and titillating dishes!
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think about Valbella or any of the dishes photographed in this post… You know I just LOVE hearing from you!
