SHE CRAB SOUP & TANDOORI CHICKEN at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami

Mandarin Oriental's She Crab Soup

I may have previously raved about the other room service dishes I had while at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami this past weekend, but my dinner the other night was hardly what I expected.  While the she-crab soup was outstanding, the chicken tandoori was hardly sufficient to be a $70 meal!

The soup had lumps of crabmeat and it was creamy, rich, hearty and soul-warming!

While I expected the chicken to be red (like it is in Indian restaurants in Miami), it came deliciously charred, but where was the rest of it?  The cucumber-like sauce added nice kick and gave the already tender chicken an extra juiciness that was divine.  The coconut sticky rice was perfectly paired with the chicken and a mini salad completed the meal.

I guess I should be complaining… I ate so good in Miami, this was all I needed on my last night – something light!  I just wanted to share three room service dishes with you today and am happy I did just that!  But next time I return to the Mandarin in Miami, I’ll be sure to order something with a bit more substance… This dish below, only hurt my wallet and kept me wanting more – a bad combination for a foodie like me.

What makes she crab soup different from a crab bisque or is it one in the same? I've been seeing it lately.

lol...looks good but I can sure see why you were disappointed with that portion and for 70$?! Still looks yummy- fancy Indian cuisine at a fancy hotel!
