Restaurant of the Month: NOBU
There are sushi spots, Japanese restaurants, and then there’s NOBU – the world’s go-to spot for premiere Japanese cuisine created by internationally renowned chef Matsuhisa Nobuyuki. Nobu is co-owned by Robert DeNiro and has locations in New York, Dubai, Milan, Tokyo, Cape Town, Las Vegas and more! Sexy decors, lavish presentations, rich recipes, and clientele including, Donald Trump, Paris Hilton, Whitney Houston, and more has helped this hot spot maintain a lofty position as one of the best restaurants in the world for more than 10 years!
I have visited my fair share of Nobus across the globe and have NOT ONCE been disappointed! There’s an undeniable standard of quality in everything Nobu does that is upheld at every location, in every ingredient, and with every employee that keeps me going back time and time again! I stopped by Nobu Miami, located at the trendy Shore Club Hotel, the other night and started with the Salmon Skin Salad! Crispy skin on a bed of fresh veggies including mixed greens, tomatoes, and artichoke with their spicy vinaigrette made for a genius texture mix and it was delicious. In fact every salad at Nobu is delicious. They also have a Tuna Sashimi salad that is out of this world!
Nobu’s creamy rock shrimp is deliciously spicy and the shrimp are plump, crispy, tender and sweet! It’s one of the restaurant’s best and signature dishes and is a must-have!
Each dish featured on the assorted menu at Nobu is so extravagantly good, it’s as if each magnificent dish has become a signature for the restaurant! One of the other most amazing things Nobu offers is their Black Cod. Buttery, tender, sweet, the black cod at Nobu melts in your mouth like glaze on a donut. They serve their black cod a number of ways and another way I enjoy it is in their lettuce wraps with minute crisp strands on top. You simply have not even had Black Cod, unless you’ve had it at Nobu.
Nobu is great for family style-eating or for individual portions as well. The service is splendid, so they’ll do whatever you’d like and prepare things for you at a whim! We paired our black cod with sauteed veggies that came with lotus root – a real crispy chip-like vegetable treat to any Asian-inspired dish! Asparagus, peppers, beans and more prepared in a garlic sauce made for the best way to eat anything green!
Of course Nobu offers a variety of sushi and desserts, but you cannot go wrong with exploring their menu and trying one of their hot or cold dishes! There’s definitely something new for you if you’re going for the first time. Nobu is the ultimate in fine dining, so it’s pricey, but if you like taking dining risks or simply enjoy the health and quality of good Japanese fare, nobody and I mean nobody, does it better than NOBU! (FYI, if you’re in LA, their Nobu is called Matsuhisa – same owner, similar dishes, different name in a LA vibe).
