Pizza and Chicken Cheese Steaks at PELANO’S, Fairfax, VA

Yesterday started off good for me! I woke up, had a banana, then went to the gym, had a protein bar and maintained a healthy diet until about 6pm when I pulled over on Lee’s Highway in Fairfax, Virginia and spotted PELANO’S, a local pizzeria who’s logo claims to have “The best Italian food in town!” I couldn’t resist, and before I knew it, my diet was out the window, and, like a freed inmate, I was scarfing down pizza and cheesesteaks, as if it was my first meal out of prison!

Pelano’s Restaurant is not much of a restaurant… I mean, even it’s website describes the atmosphere as “casual and fun.” It’s a small easy place to dine with no pretense or tablecloths… But fantastic food at very affordable prices paired with an earthy and friendly staff that make up for any unnecessary accoutrement. It’s all about the food at Pelano’s which is located in Jermantown Square off of Lee Highway in Fairfax City. You would have to be a local or frequent Fairfax to know about it. But since opening in September, spousal owners Gerry and Pam Pelano are doing quite well for a nine-month old establishment. The menu offers pretty much everything you’d expect from a suburban pizzeria, including subs, salads, wings, mozzarella sticks and ssignature Italian pasta dishes such as spaghetti with meatballs, lasagna and you can even build your own pasta bowl! Pelano’s offers carry-out, delivery, eat-in-service and catering!

The pizza at Pelano’s was delicious! It was thin crust and sliced in 6, so it wasn’t too bad to use as an appetizer! It was hot, cheesy, flavorful and hearty! I devoured two slices, but had I been at home by myself, I would’ve and could’ve easily torn up the whole thing on my own! The subs were stupendous! As a matter of fact, Pelano’s reminded me of a pizzeria one could find on an Atlantic City boardwalk, except Pelano’s was better! My chicken cheesesteak came with sauteed onions and mushrooms and oozed with hot melted White American Cheese! It was sinfully good and I tore it up, dipping every other bite in a ranch dressing! I had to ask for the tomatoes and lettuce as it does not come on the sandwich without request.
So, as you can tell, I LOVED Pelano’s not just for their easy dining, but for their family-like, careful and uber-friendly service, the outstanding prices, and the amazingly good, greasy and fattening Italian food! It really is the BEST Italian spot in TOWN!
BJC.
you have been to prison? EEKKK
LOL... I wont even respond to that, because it is more than apparent you are too dumb to know what a simile or metaphor is.
OMG this looks so yummy. I need to visit Virginia & go to this place. I'm a big foodie myself lol. The buffalo chicken cheesteak will be something i will try ;) And that fool is so dumb to actually think you went to jail. Anyway Love you BJ
