Oysters Rockefeller, Bacon, Fried Shrimp & A Baked Potato @ PRIME 112, Miami
By now, you should know that I just can’t visit my favorite city in the world – Miami, and not stop by one of my favorite restaurants in the world – PRIME 112!
Prime 112 was named Burgers & Bourbon’s Restaurant of the Week back in 2011 when I first started this blog, and I’m just as crazy about this lavish steakhouse today as I was when it first opened back in 2005 or 2006 (I honestly can’t remember Miami without Prime)!
As if the strips of long thick cut bacon served at the bar are not enough to seduce an appetite, a glance at the sumptuous menu and one is instantly hooked to this celebrity, athlete and VIP favorite!
Oysters Rockefeller is an American dish named after John D. Rockefeller and features oysters on the half shell that are baked with rich toppings of cream and/or butter, bread crumbs, and some type of greens – ie, parsley or spinach. Wikipedia reports the dish was invented in 1840 at legendary New Orleans restaurant Antoine’s, but I’ve been eating them since I became a foodie in my twenties and aside from being an aphrodisiac, the dish is simply amazing! And, like everything else at Prime 112, the oysters rockefeller there were generously served on large oysters and the staple appetizer was decadently intense with flavor and taste!
For the first time ever, I opted for something other than steak for my main meal at Prime 112 and ordered their fried shrimp entree. Served with cole slaw and watermelon, the breaded prawns were the biggest I had ever seen, yet they were still juicy, tender, meaty and bold! I loved every rich bite of this meal. I paired it with a baked potato that I loaded with toppings and as always, it was an utter feast of paramount proportions!
There’s nothing like a meal at Prime 112. You already know from my other reviews that it’s pricey, but well worth it. Go for the eye candy, the celebrity spotting, the prolific meals, or just for the experience. It’s as simple as this – you haven’t done Miami, unless you’ve done PRIME 112!
