LUNCH TIME – A Ghetto Lunch (yeah, I said it)

I call this my ghetto lunch. A bodega $6 sub, some chips and a vitamin water – takes me back to my days as a youngin’ growing up on streets of Washington DC!
As someone who grew up with bodegas, it’s not uncommon for me to stop by one for a quick bite to eat – although I definitely pick and choose my bites carefully! As a Harlemnite, I frequent the Lenox U.S. Deli on 127th & Lenox! It’s relatively clean, the prices are great, and the guys who run it are easy-going and friendly.
I ordered the steak and cheese, I had them toast my bread and grill some onions. I asked for them to put lettuce, tomatoes, salt & pepper, mayo, ketchup and hot peppers on it. The Deep River kettle cooked potato chips are one of my favorite brands! Crisp whole chips with great flavors really make this brand stand out from the rest and the quality chips really help shape this meal!
Here’s another angle for you viewing pleasure!
Do you go to Bodegas for more than your average sundries? What do you usually order? And have you visited Lenox US Deli? Thoughts?
BJC.

I'm a huge fan a philly cheese steaks and this indeed looks great! all that for 6$
I'm headed to a Bodega soon and I think I will try this one!
This is not a good luook BJ- saying "ghetto lunch"? Everyone eats at deli's maybe your experience was ghetto because I believe you mentioned your living in Harlem...makes sense. You live in the Ghetto
#AGREED! if you so poppin why you live in harlem?! You aint makin $$ to live no where else, in the suburbs or upper east/west side you live in the ghetto- stop prancin around lyke u betta then ever1 else wen u live wit roaches and rats! u been fell off since kimora booboo
Yummy....looks delicious;-) Everyone's gotta enjoy a "ghetto lunch" from time to time and I just had one myself - McDonald's....LOL!
LOL I love it!! Never tried Kettle chips before (thanks for the recommendation) but the sub looks heavenly!
Steak and cheese sandwiches make a great "fast meal"--they're easy to handle and keep you feeling full for hours. I prefer provolone cheese with spinach and mayo. I've never been to either of these places, but I'll definitely add them to my list of places to eat the next time I'm in NYC. Thanks for sharing!
This is a disgrace- "ghetto lunch" nothing funny at all about it aside from the face that you are telling the world you are ghetto and poor and you live in harlem and cant afford to live elsewhere. U front a fab lifestlye w/rich&famous when I prob-have more $ than u! IM DONE WITH THIS WHACK ASS BLOG SITE
