Greek Yogurt: CHOBANI vs. FAGE

Chobani vs Fage Greek Yogurts

By now, we have heard the rage about Greek yogurt!  You know – it’s a good source of protein, and how, if you’re going to eat yogurt, make it greek yogurt.  Well, I’ve been eating Greek yogurt for a few years now, and always grapple with which brand to choose when in the supermarket!

Here’s the deal, I don’t like fruit on the bottom of my yogurt (I prefer to put in my own blueberries or dip fresh strawberries), so I stick to honey or lemon flavors.  My top three brand picks are Chobani, Fage and Oikos.  Oikos is great… Smooth  and creamy with honey on the bottom.  Fage packages their honey separately which makes for a hard mixing, but Chobani’s honey flavored yogurt?  I mean, is there any honey in it at all???

I used to buy Chobani because it’s the cheapest and they are advertised everywhere.  The first time I didnt see any honey mixed in, I thought it was a mistake.  Then over and over I have bought honey flavored and NO HONEY!

The 2 compartments in Fage’s greek yogurt make for a great display, but because the honey is already sticky, it’s hard to mix into the yogurt without making a mess… and there’s always leftover honey in the smaller side.  But it does taste better than the former… and if you’re looking for honey flavor, Fage does not disappoint.

So, all in all, I’d have to go with FAGE people… Their yogurt is delicious it gives me what I want… OIKOS is best of all as their honey is already mixed on the bottom, so there’s no sloppy mixing.  Try it out… you’ll see.

So here’s the best order for GREEK YOGURT: 1) OIKOS 2) FAGE 3) CHOBANI

****EATING TIP:  I buy honey flavored yogurt because HONEY is soooo good for you… It’s an easy way to incorporate it into your diet… I also use honey in my green tea as a sweetener… But in terms of yogurt… I get the honey flavor, add my own fruit and then top it with ground flax seed… A great breakfast to get protein, fruit, fiber, omega 3s and goodness all in one! :)

Oikos is really tasty...but I like Chobani with fresh slices of bananas! You must try and drizzle your own honey on top! SO GOOD

My favorite yogurt (although not greek) is Erivan Yogurt (plain). I add maple syrup instead of honey as the honey I use is thick, not sure how it would mix, but I haven't tried. Maybe I should and compare.
