GEORGIA BROWN’S, Washington DC – All That & A Basket of Fluffy Biscuits!
For years I have heard about popular Washington DC soul food restaurant GEORGIA BROWN’S. A favorite of my grandmothers, first lady Michelle Obama is often spotted there dining with family or friends.
Well, I finally visited last week for lunch, and when the server placed a basket of fluffy biscuits and warm cornbread in the center of the table, I knew I was in for something special.
Located at 950 15th Street NW, Georgia Brown’s is a scrumptious salute to the southern blood line that pumps through the nations capital. A bronze scrolled ceiling, lush golden banquette seating, white linens and formal staff make for an elegant fine dining and Georgia Brown’s perfect for lunch, ideal for brunch, and fun for dinner! Fluffy biscuits, grits, honey butters, gumbo, catfish and fried chicken are just a few Southern cuisine menu items that will have you think you’re dining in Atlanta or Savannah!
The Fried Green Tomatoes are served stuffed with goat cheese over a saucy bed of tomato relish and green onion mayonnaise. The creamy center with the crisp skin made the dish rich and savory.
The Crispy Chicken Livers dish at Georgia Brown’s was an epic creation of genius, creativity and flavor! Manchego Cheese Grits, Corn Nuts, and Piquillo Pepper Marmalade served as the perfect accompaniment to the deep fried livers. The generous portion (although this meal is featured on the appetizer menu) had be taking a doggie bag home!
The prices at Georgia Brown’s are pretty affordable for an upscale downtown restaurant. I ate the entire meal above for about $40, and I had a lemonade that was generously re-filled upon request.
Aside from the fancy but comfortable cuisine, the hospitality at Georgia Brown’s is part of their appeal. Swift service, warm personalities, and attentive servers provide a pleasant experience at this DC staple that has been around since 1993!
I LOVED Georgia Brown’s! I’d go back with family, friends or business associates anytime whether it’s morning, afternoon or night! It’s a fantastic restaurant with stupendous fare and a legendary reputation that delivers and serves on every level imaginable!
