I wrote about BOURBON STEAK briefly last month when I ranked them #2 in my TOP 5 Pennsylvania Avenue Restaurants for those of you who chose to bear the insanity of DC during the recent Presidential Inauguration.  However, since starting this blog, prior to last week, I had not visited my favorite DC steakhouse in some time and I’ve been dying to take you inside the ultra luxe restaurant!  I thought February was the perfect time to make Bourbon Steak our RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH!

Bourbon Steak is located in the lobby of the fabulous Four Seasons Hotel, and whether you’ve stayed at the five-star hotel or not, you already know the chain’s international reputation for beauty, service and luxury are pretty hard to beat.  So one can easily imagine, that like the hotel in which it is situated, Michael Mina‘s Bourbon Steak offers the best in decor, presentations, food, attention and style.

Start with the truffle butter rolls.  Sinfully fresh, the bread is soft, moist and fluffy, well-seasoned and amped up by infused truffle butter that is simply sensational!

The French Fries trio comes with three various fries and three various sauces, all of which are equally delicious with their own seasonings and pizazz.

When it comes to ordering at Bourbon Steak, there is something for everyone on the extensive and elaborate menu that features steakhouse staples from oysters to potatoes and everything in between from froie gras and pear salads to caviar and braised veal cheeks!

The sides are just as impressive!  The tuscan kale with a garlic confit was crisp and perfect.  The roasted brussel sprouts with dates were tender and sweet, and the velvety black truffle mac & cheese was creamy, rich and comforting!  Just like the appetizers and main courses, the side dishes at Bourbon Steak are enough to keep one happy and pleasantly satiated with a nice balance of flavor, texture, and technique.

The salted baked potato comes with the works – bacon, scallions, creme fraiche and butter!  It’s loaded, hefty, salty and delicious!

Bourbon Steak offers a number of fish and steak options!  Generally speaking, Arctic Char is one of my favorite fishes, so we tried that and the oak-fired pink fish was decadently cooked to perfection and made for a stupendous entree as it was meaty, tender and moist!

On my last visit I made my own surf & turf by combining the prawns dish with an 8 oz filet, as photographed above!  The prawns were sauteed in garlic and chiles and the steak was flawless.

Aside from amazing steaks, fishes and sides, Bourbon Steak also offers pork chops, house made pastas, Wagyu beef, scallops and a lobster pot pie all in a sexy and dimly lit setting that is awesome for dates and singles.  The restaurant’s opulent booths and succulent recipes are also great for impressive business meals and catching up with family and friends!  It’s all-inclusive at Bourbon Steak, especially if you don’t mind forking over $100 per person, because that how much you will probably spend there unless you stick to appetizers for meals and easy tapas style dining.

The drinks are generously served, the attention to detail is evident from service to presentation and Bourbon Steak delivers on all accounts!  It’s one of those rare restaurants that pleases all the senses boldly and unapologetically.  Go big or go home at Bourbon Steak!  It’s one of the best dining out experiences you will ever have.
