A Salmon Spinach Salad, Coffee & A Muffin at LARCHMONT BUNGALOW, Los Angeles
I had appointment after appointments the other day and wanted to pick a spot in LA where it was comfortable and lax, but reserved and glamorous enough to be impressive. A colleague suggested a cafe called LARCHMONT BUNGALOW. It was perfect. Located at 107 N. Larchmont Boulevard in the quaint and tony Larchmont community adjacent to Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, Larchmont Bungalow offers an array of breakfasts all day, fresh coffees and teas, salads, pastries, crepes, sandwiches, burgers, red & blue velvet waffles, chilis, soups, ribs and fish on an eclectic and well-rounded menu that screams of organic and fresh LA diet-based recipes and ingredients.
Hipsters, young moms and white collar professionals mix and mingle at Larchmont Bungalow doing work on lap tops, meeting with associates or simply munching in between the day’s engagements. Whether its the neighborhood, the staff, the country-side decor, or clientele itself, there is a special composed elegance in the overall presentation at Larchmont Bungalow that adds a nice touch to the easy and rustic ambiance.
With everything being handmade, it is difficult to order healthy at this artisan cafe. Whether its pulled pork or the lobster and crab sandwich, each succulent dish whispers “eat me” from the page. I asked for help in choosing smart when I ordered at the counter, and the cashier suggested the Salmon Spinach Salad. I took my coffee and number to my table and within 10 minutes the brightly colored warm salad arrived topped with cranberries, spiced pecans, bacon, and Pt. Reyes bleu cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette. Aside from being fresh, the salad was full of natural flavors and distinct characters that made it a potpourri of well-balanced textures! Put simply, this was one of the best salads I’ve ever had!
The fruit filled muffin was something someone I met with ordered. I had two moist bites and wanted to devour the entire thing, but, again, it wasn’t mine and I had to be on good behavior. It was so soft and warm! I’m confident that all of the other pastries at Larchmont Bungalow have the same sweetness and fluffiness where warranted. This place does not seem like a place that lacks consistency.
The medium coffee was served in an oversized cup. It ran me about $3, but was better than Starbucks! It was bold and rich and sinfully delicious.
I really enjoyed my first visit to Larchmont Bungalow! I have no doubt I will return to try some of their other dishes and breakfast options! I ordered the entire meal above for under $20. Larchmont Bungalow is a place of sheer delight with farm-fresh ingredients and an assortment of dishes that can be good to your waistline and still be heaven to your taste buds!
