A Crab Cake Lunch at CORNER SOCIAL, NYC
I had a delicious lunch al fresco today at Corner Social in Harlem on the NW corner of 126th St. and Lenox Ave. I’ve written about this place before, but because it’s new, the menu keeps getting these delicious upgrades that keep me going back for more! It stays packed during the weeknights and the weekends are just as unbearable. The true and best time to indulge in Corner Social is for a weekday lunch.
Last time I went for brunch, I had a delicious COBB SALAD, but today I ordered the crab cake from their new lunch menu! The thick and fresh pan fried crab meat was centered on a bed of frisee lettuce mix, chopped asparagus and lightly battered fried green tomatoes, drenched in a cherry chutney! Although I did find the tomatoes to be sliced a bit on the thin side (but the batter was the same light and crispy battered used on the weekend Cobb Salad), this demure and debonair dish proved to be inventive, light, satisfying, well-portioned and flavorful. And while the warmth of the lumpy jumbo crab took center stage, the star of this dish had to be the cherry chutney. The sweet marmalade gave the salad a refreshing and elegant touch that made for an unsuspecting but nice surprise that mixed well with the vegetables and meat in the most superb way!
I loved this meal and LOVE Corner Social! Believe me when I tell you, this won’t be the last time you’ll read about my new Harlem favorite!
