2 Slices from GIOVANNI’S, NYC
One of the best things about Manhattan, is that although I may not always get to stop by my favorite pizza shop Mariellas for a great slice, there are plenty of other alternatives that make New York City pizza stand out amongst the country’s rest. One of those places is GIOVANNI’S!
Located at 1011 Columbus Ave on the corner of 110th Street, I have to be honest, this was my first time stopping by this traditional gotham pizzeria, and I’m so glad I did!
Although the neighborhood is still a bit shoddy, its one of those newer upper west areas that’s quickly on the rise. The pizzeria itself could use a good overhaul, but the quaint, neighborly feeling is apparent in the cafeteria-style setting. And as if the taste of the recipes were not enough, splashes of red, white and green echo the necessary Italian-American vibe.
Pasta, pizza, sandwiches, chicken marsala, calamari, calzone, garlic knots, veal parmigiana, eggplant and fried shrimp dishes make Giovanni’s menu well-rounded, extensive and fattening! But I stopped in for their hot and crispy pizza and it was magnificent!
The light and flaky thin crust jumbo sized pizza had me oh so glad I walked 10+ plus for the tasting! Their crust is so good, it’s unlike any other I’ve ever tasted! It was cheesy, generously portioned with meats, and only about $6!
I loved this place! They do take, delivery and dine in. Nothing fancy, just good ole Italian dishes with Manhattans, style, service and flavors!
